Gidday
I'm John and my wife and I are planning on a self build timber home on our Kuranda jungle block above Cairns. We want to use some of the nice timber we have collected over the years and maybe source some other quality wood to make our retirement jungle hut something special.
We have done a fair bit of restoration of Queenslanders over the years, and make our own kitchens ect but hope to get some advice on bits that we haven't done before and sourcing exciting timbers.
We have a small plantation of toona cilata, flindersia australis, aracaura (qld kauri) but it will be a while before it is big enough to even think about harvest.
I hope we don't ask too many questions!

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "John",
There are quite a few members in Far North Queensland area, a stack of members in Brisbane & S.E. Queensland plus the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie

You picked a nice part of the world to build. Kuranda sits in a great place, on the edge of the Wet Tropics rain forests and the dryer open forests. Are you north, south or west of Kuranda? I've done a lot of surveying in that country but many years ago now.

Welcome to the forum. Don't be concern about asking questions, that one of the reasons of having a forum.
