Hi Dave, take heart that, in only a few years, it will change to being a day when you remember good things, funny things, things he still owes you! That's how it now is for me and me little sister. It has become a special day NOT a feared one.

G'Day Dave,
The fact that today was a bit raw just goes to show you & your brother had, or is that, have a special bond.
Hold onto that love and remind yourself of the good and fun times.
Cheers, Peter

A hard day but it shows you care and how much you still love him
But as others have said its good to remember the good the bad and the fun

Thanks all for your comments. There are some good times and good stories to tell. I have to write a few of these memories down.

Been there, tried that Dave........ dismal failure!
I found writing it all down just too hard, it was just like she was watching me! What did work however was a cheapie tape recorder and a couple of mates ..... with beer! The stories flowed, it was so natural and so therapeutic. I've still got the recorder laying around somewhere, happy to post it to you?

I am still giving this one thought. As kids we had an extremely disfunctional childhood. Very few friends and almost none in common. Our child life was mostly just the two of us and no one to reminisce with. Our adult life early years was mostly the two of us and my ex who I have not seen in many years and no idea where she lives. Still i could just talk and record on my phone. Hope you having a good trip

It was a stinker in Sydney yesterday. Much more pleasant this morning. The reason for my trip to Sydney this time was for the interment of my brother's ashes. Despite the heat that is what 4 of the closest family did. The plaque was stuck in place as we were there thus the masking tape

http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/20/6dcf95ac014815f5d68793912f7289e3.jpg

Claudia had her daughter moved to the same wall and she was placed lose by as you see. Jade loved the setting

On Monday I hope to get past there again perhaps with Uncle Al and get a better pic of the plaque.

Really looking forward to seeing some of my fine woodworking family at Katoomba tomorrow.

It was a harder day for my SIL.

On a brighter note, love him (my brother) as much as she does my SIL has had someone else walk into her life. He is a terrific bloke and I'm very happy them both. So much can change in such a short time

Slightly peeved.

Organised to take part in the worlds greatest shave as a promo thing Bunninga sent out to their trade customers.

Logged onto Bunnings PowerPass, registered and as part of theprocess registered with the offical greatest shave website. Also had to mominaye a store. My brother died in Sydney sonthought Sydney it is. Bunnings web site have the dates as 9th to 13th from memory so it worked out with a forum gtg.

Get a phone call from greatest shave HQ confirmong im good to go and asking if my mominated store has been in touch. She confirms theor web site covers the period inc tomorrow. That was over a week ago.

Friday 4th I ring Campbelltown Bunnings to book a time. Noone there really seems to know anything and the woman who does wont be in till Monday. Ok i leave my name and number. Knowing I'll likely have no phone signal most od the week I explocitly let them know when taking a message ans supply my email. I said "if she cant get through tell her to email me". As part of the discussion I also mentiones I plan to e there Saturdau and coming about 1000 k's

Come today, still no word so I call them. No one seemed to have a clue. I get put through to the trade desk. the woman orgaising it wont be in till Monday. She can call me then.

After stating im planning tonjave it done tomorroq the woman says 'Oh we did stick take. We wont be doing it till Wednesday'

'I just drove 1000 kms to jave it done'

She says, "I'm sorry sir"

Good one !!!

Well no call from Bunnings

The other store had no idea whether it was being doe or not when I spoke to Peta at the trade desk. It is being run by the trade department ad it is trade customers who were ivited to take part.

Yesterday I rang a head office in Perth and the first lady I spoke to had no idea what soever as to whether or not Bunnings were involved. Seems a massive breakdown in communication generally.

How fast three year's goes by.

I'm not on the forum near as much as I'd like. Hopefully I will get back to it in the coming year.

As another anniversary draws close I've taken time to look over this thread. What a family I have here. The love, compassion, support and loyalty you have all shown ... I'm speechless with a lump in my throat and tear in my eye.

My inbox is almost full as I have never deleted the messages from that time.

You are a great lot.

Thanks

I know that when you read posts like this it can be painful. But remember the good times that you had.

Look forward to seeing some of your work again once you manage to get into the workshop
