Health reasons, I'm fine, I'll be the carer.
We will be living in the Cleveland area.
Getting organised to move now, I'll be driving down over 2 days, Wednesday & Thursday to be here ready for Friday.
First week or so will be a big learning curve but once I've settled in, I'll be looking to make a nuisance of myself.

G'Day Cliff,
Cleveland is a very nice part of the world..... quieter area with good access to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, great water sports area from canoe to jet ski plus good fishing except in the sea grass areas were the dugongs are protected and you have direct access to Stradie ferry; just don't attempt to drive there on low tide following the Navman like some Japanese tourists did in March last year.... they bogged a hirer cars 400-500mtrs from the boat ramp out in the bay.
I hope all goes well with the reason for the stop over and that you have some time to rest, relax and enjoy the Redlands bay area.
Cheers, crowie....

I made it.... bloody long trip... first 270Kms took 4 bloody hours. Roadworks.
Got a flat tyre 50Kms out of Rocky just as the 2nd half of State of Origin started...
It was 11°C outside & I was still in shorts, very fast job, unpack half the car, change tyre, repack the car, jump back in & the phone rings before I get to hear the score.
It was the motel, the want to know where I am & how long I'll be, says she will hit my credit card & leave the key under the door mat, fine, phone is beeping to say there is another call.
It was the Mrs. She was already in Brissy & has had an afternoon with the Doc & wants to tell me all about it.
Yup, you guessed it, by the time I get the radio back on, the footy is finished.
NFI who won 'cos now they are busy talking about the fight I missed & the way the rules are wrong 'cos 4 blokes got sent off.
By now I am yelling that the radio "Who the hell won ya turkeys?"
Anyway, no sweat, we won.
Got to bed at midnight.
Next morning I'm sitting around till 9:30 waiting for tyres, eventually hit the road at 10am & bugger me, more bloody roadworks.
This time I manage to get 285Kms in the first 4 hours. Sheyete.
Finally get to Brissy at 6:30pm Thursday night.
So far so good. Fingers crossed.

Small stuff to suit pens & ornaments.
Couple of bits big enough to make some hand tools.

So the highway hasn't changed much since the 1970's and 1980's.
That sounds like one hell of a trip, nice of the motel people to follow you up.
Sorry I can't help as my brother isn't a woodworker.
What's happening with the Dewalt thicknesser & Byrd cutter; I hope you brought it as you should have some time to do the install??
All the best for the good lady and your stay in the big smoke.

Gee 4 months is along time. I suppose that you will be getting a lesson in exercising patients.
One great thing for you will be the chance to sneak off and get a "shed fix" from those hospitable Forumites around Bris.

Just to update this thread. (I've had a couple of people ask)
Treatment is going well, we were allowed to take a break to drive out to Longreach for my Dad's 80th birthday & then we flew to Hawaii for 2 weeks.
(Holiday had been booked & paid for at the start of the year, we just needed to wait to see how things were going.)
We are back in Brissy for another 2 months at least.
Hope to be going home fore Christmas.
I've resumed work on my CBG, (thread in the Musical Instrument Section) I just have to do the sanding out on the driveway.

Op is over & done with.
We went to see the surgeon on Friday, don't need to see him for 6 months.
Went to the Oncologist today, don't need to see her for 3 months.
Gina will get Herceptin every three weeks for the rest of her life, had a dose this arvo, next dose will be in Cairns on the 30th.
She is on a plane tomorrow arvo, I'll start driving Wednesday morning, plan to do it in 2 days, about 900K a day.
Gina's car is in Cairns so she will spend a couple of days there catching up with friends & then she will drive up the hill Thursday arvo to be there when I arrive home.
Home in time for Christmas. :2tsup:

2 problems with that...,.
1. Car doesn't have a tow bar.
2. I drove 990Kms today. That puts me a long way away from where MM is.
3. I already have that much timber that I had to live for another 150 years to use it all.
Did I say 2?

We've been back to Brissy for the 3 monthly check up, scans etc.
All good. Classed as 'stable' & that is the best we could hope for.
There ongoing maintenance treatment every 3 weeks with blood tests every 6 weeks including marker tests every 12 weeks.
