Hello everyone.
My name is Erik and I am somewhat new to the world of wood.
When I was young, I would go with my father to “rescue” trees that were earmarked for land clearing. With the permission of the land clearer, we would go out to the site and collect these trees before they were burnt, and make them into boards, burls and slabs. After many years of collecting rare and fine Western Australian timber, my father asked me to help him do more than just store it.
Unfortunately, I only know the basics of timber. I came across the woodwork forum and it looked like a great place to read up on some of the finer points of wood and woodcraft, as well as listen to people advice when offered, or asked for.
Well, that’s a bit of background about me, I look forward to getting involved with the Woodworking Australia’s Forum Community.
Cheers guys.
Erik
