G'day everyone,

My name is Ben and I'm from Geelong.

I've been looking at this site for a few months now and i have to say its amazing! It has completely inspired me to take my woodworking a step further.

From what started as just surfing the net on a quiet day at work has turned into plans to turn my shed into a fully operational workshop and start taking seriously (not too seriously) what i enjoy most in life. I shouldnt say it was ALL the doings of this forum cos thats a little mad but it has definately given me direction and confidence to go harder and know that i am definately not alone in my interest.

Its funny where life takes you. This actually all started a few years ago when my wife thought she might like to live in a different house and i wasnt invited. She was kind enough though to leave me all the high quality furniture that the good people at fantastic furniture produce. Sooo after 18 months of feeling sorry for myself and having to pick up screws from under the dining table i thought it was time to upgrade my furniture. After a short trip to a few furniture stores i realised that even fairly basically constructed furniture is very expensive and for my price range (i was trying to spend a fair bit too) very boring. I just couldnt justify spending money on something that i could put together myself so i started doing the maths.... new dining table = tablesaw..... hall table = router .....bedroom suit=drill press+jointer....... i think you get the idea. Basically once i started down this path it has snowballed into something i am finding very exciting and im just going with it. It has already done me a world of good just to be thinking about it.

Anyway thats enough of a ramble.

Pleased to meet you all and i will be starting my shop fit soon and will post some pics along the way.

Cheers
Ben
