Hello all,

My name is Mick. I've been looking around for a few days and you have a great spot here. I'm looking forward to asking the odd question. :)

I found this site while looking on google for information on Turner planes. I stopped at a skip recently when I spotted a couple of old oak dining chairs poking out. In the same skip was a box with some old woodworking tools. I went and knocked on the door and a young woman said I could have anything I wanted as it was rubbish from the shed.

Here's what I found...

213190

A turner 220, two turner number 4's, and what I'm guessing is a stanley number 5 with a turner iron and chip breaker. Plus the old rebate plane.

There were also some chisels ...

213189

A couple of unmarked ones, some titans, some gouges and an old marples and a big ward.

Also a few spare bits of turners...

213191

Looking forward to giving them a clean and seeing how they go.

Mick.

G'day Mick, i hope you enjoy yourself here. i havnt been here a long time myself but met a few great ppl already.

wow, what a mother lode of gear you got, for free, dam why doesnt that happen to me! i'm too shy and go look or ask i suppose. with those you only need to add a saw or two and a couple of other basics and there's not much you couldn't make, free turner's, incredible! :) you should show em in the hand tool section, i bet some ppl will like to see em!

cheers

Thanks for the welcome fellas.

Re the planes... I said to my wife... I won a desklamp on a chocolate wheel when I was about 8. That was the last big score I could remember. :U Should be due for another win in about 40 years. :D

I will post a thread about them in the handtools section.

Also, everyone loves photos, so show off your handiwork; especially WIP photos with notes.
