Hello to all. I'm Alistair and I live near Somerville in Victoria.

I've been slowly renovating my house over the last 2.5 year. I have stumbled on this forum a few times. Just about to start on the last bit of the reno and it's a biggie. I'm replacing a Solarium (it isn't as posh as it sounds) with a new room. I'm 95% confident of doing the work myself but would be grateful for any help with the niggly bits.

What's the protocol on here? Do I just fire away with a question or should I do some trawling first to see if I can find the answer. (I've done a little of that already but a lot of the info seems to be specific to a problem.)

It has been my experience that either way is fine, posting and searching. You might also want to sign up the sister site Renovate forum as well Renovate Forums (http://www.renovateforum.com/content/).

You might find that people here are also on that site. Having the same userid and password on both allows you to jump from one site to the other.
