View Full Version : swivel mirror mounts?

I was too rushed or too cocky to take my own advice and in the process of restoring an old dressing table with a tilting mirror on the top I have removed the hardware without recording how it fitted together before dissembly.
The mirror frame seems to have been remounted a couple of times and the timber is tired and split in places. I am reluctant to replace the existing hardware without filling or replacing the damaged timber and I have no idea where I can get replacement fittings, the parts that attach the mirror frame to the panels on either side. I don't even know what to call them when searching for them. A previous repair has damaged one of the fittings and so I think I should replace them. Any idea where or what I should be looking for? I can attach pictures if necessary but that would involve another search to find the computer leads to upload some :(
Thanks in advance...

thanks Trapp3r, I have put it all back together now, except that now the mirror swings too far back, so I have wedged one of my sons blocks behind it to slow it down.. one thing solved seems to lead to all sorts of new problems ;)

A photo of the Mirror hinge fittings would definately help heaps. I know what you are describing,- but for the life of me can't think of what the parts are called either.( Something to do with getting old :D:D ), - BUT do suggest you contact someone such as the Adelaide Restoration Centre,- yes they have a website, and go through their product list, then if you still can't find what you are looking for, email them, and," pick their brains !! " That's what I do when occasionally stuck for information. Adelaide Restoration Centre has been round for, " Yonks. " which helps too.
