We just bought a new horse float which is fitted with electric brakes, considerably better than my old overides, problem is that yesterday I noticed that only one brake was working and later in the day neither were operating.
I tried the manual overide and got nothing.
Having never used these before I wonder if there are any little quirks that these things have.
The tow vehicle is fitted with a Hayman Reece controller which appears to be operating OK (the light comes on when the brakes are applied).

Take it to a good auto elec. My guess is the wiring is not heavy enough to the plug on the vehicle on both ends.

Sounds like a case of the cart leading the horse temporarily.

Hi Iain, the most probable cause is a loose wire inside the trailer plug. It will be the blue one.

Thankyou peoples, found the problem, one of the spade connectors on the trailer was corroded and causing the problem, now I have a new one, when I brake the trailer brakes take a second -r so to come on, with manual overide it is instant, is this normal for electric brakes?
