At last, a website/forum which understands the Aussie language.:U
As can be seen in the title, I'm a Bundy boy and yes, I was recently flooded. Matter of fact, our old 1950's built shop was on the news, so I reckon it's had the 15 seconds of fame thing. Mind you, I don't know what I was thinking when buying a property on Water Street in a known flood zone. But eh, the price was right at the time.
The shop has accomodation attached to the rear, but received near 2m of floodwater inside and the Sparkies from ERGON refused to turn the power back on. However we were fortunate to have a besser block workshop beside the house section and the power is on there. The workshop is fully plumbed with a dunny.shower room and a granny flat like sink and laundry tub.
My interest in these forums will be everything from renovating the shop/house to the worse case scenario of a rebuild. Depends on the decision our insurers come to and the payout figure. Fortunately we are fully covered having a mortgage with Westpac.
Currently we live in the workshop and I've run a 15A power lead to the house for setting up a work area in the former lounge/dining rooms. Although a flash-flood we had time to shift a few loads, like bedding, clothes, fridge and freezer on the trayback and some of my power tools. Cheers all.
