G'day guys,
Thought I'd sign up here as I get my HSC Woodworking Major underway. Probably a great place to get advice from experienced woodworkers along the way.
I'll also thought I'd keep you guys posted on my progress etc. with pictures and what not. I like looking through the picture of other blokes constructions and masterpiece so though I'd do the same.
So I suppose you want to know what I'm making. Well I'm making a poker table with an additional top so that it converts to dining table when not in use.
Other projects that I've done include a coffee/bedside table with pine rails with a merbau and blackbutt chessboard recessed into the top of it.
I also resto'd a 20ft timber boat with my old man and my and his old man.
Anyway if you guys are keen to see pictures ill see what I can find. I'll try post up before and after pictures of my boat - "The Girlfriend."
Cheers Guys.

G'day mate and welcome to the forums.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:
There is a special forum for "schoolies" further down the page. Ypu wil do well to look in on that.
Good luck with it all and don't forget to ask plenty of questions.

I should probably post these in the wooden boat section but hey I mentioned that I resto'd it in this forum and said I would post up pics here so here they are.
So got the boat for free of a bloke that was just using it as a mooring minder. Had it out of the water for almost 6 months to the day. I don't have the boat anymore we sold it to some guy for a nice little profit. We renamed her "The Girlfriend." I think her old name was "Maud" from memory.
So here are the before and after pictures. Not hard to tell the difference between the before and afters :)

haha, there's always one isn't there? and for once its not me :q
Anyway, I said i would post up some picture of my coffee/bedside table with the chessboard inlay.
This was one of projects in year 10, its got pine rails and legs. I made the chessboard out of blackbutt and merbau. Once I had it all glued up my teacher dropped it and as you can imagine it broke into about 10 pieces so that was fun putting it back together. I don't know what else there is to tell. Finished it with 3 coats of lacquer. I was going to finish it with glass coat but I chickened out after reading about how tricky the application can be.
But yeah enough of me talking, I finally got around to taking some pics today. So here they are.
