Some mongrel tipped a large qauntity of old oil and diesel into the creek about 60metres or so down the road from where we live!!!:~:~:~

A team was there from about 7 this morning cleaning it up ( well, as best they could ) and were still at it at 5.

I had a chat with the bloke in charge and he said they average about 6 events like this each year. Not just here but over the whole council area.

This creek is a popular spot for wood ducks. Every year they breed there and often the adults are out on my nature strip grazing.

Ever had a good look at Wood ducks.? they are beautiful!!

Also will effect the frogs, small fish and dragon flies as well as other species.

If caught the perpetrator will be fined $$2 000. BIG DEAL In crease it to $20 000.

Upping the fine won't do any good.

They have to catch the bastards.

If they do catch them, their name and photo should go up on a poster in every shop window (and anywhere else) in the area.

That really stinks.

I cant imagine why anyone would do such a stupid thing.

They should get a public flogging.

I agree with the public flogging idea......but don't you have waste-oil collection at rubbish dumps/transfer stations?

Yes we do have a waste collection facility, but it appears a small fee is just too much for some!!:~:~:~

The stuphph is still being removed as I type. Appears that 300-400 litres was dumpded. All the locals a re furious, and rightly so!

We have had some dissapointing things happen in Mackay lately as well.

Last week a number of headstones were smashed in the Old Mackay Cemetary, and then on the weekend a large pile of rubbish was dumped at the same Cemetary.

A lot of people are up in arms, apparently the cost of repairs to the old historic headstones falls back on the families of the ones who are buried in the damaged gravesites. :(

Public floggings are needed for cases like this also.

Mindless acts of vandalism are so bloody enraging!!

Hoons who drag wheelie bins down streets- or just knock them over, others who drive their cars along a row of newly planted street trees and destroy them, bottle smashers.. The list goes on.

Well, the clean up crew is on its fourth day of pumping!. Imagine that from only 300 litres!!

These people are a waste of space. There seems to be an increase in the percentage of these type of idiots in society. Stronger powers to the police and harsher penalties, the bleeding hearts have had there time and look where that has got us.
