Collecting grass clippings

A rotten household job is to mow the lawn. After the catcher is full which may happen 3 times each session, I have to empty into garbage bags. It's a bit of a struggle when you only have 2 hands to hold the bag, hold the catcher and then try and push the grass down into the bag. Don't have much of a garden so can't dispose of the clippings there. Anyone have a tip on how to do all this effectively without growing an extra arm?

Put the bag over the front of the catcher then tip it all up

or

Get off the chair and hold the bag for her while she does it - it's not that much to ask when she is mowing the lawn - you can tell her to hurry up so your beer doesnt get hot but be nice about it:doh::doh:

You can buy the bags that will stand up by them selfs.

you could get a man powered mower and leave the grass on the lawn so you don't need fertilizer and less water and no petrol.

Find someone with a surplus of sawdust, mix the two and viola! compost!

I just removed the catcher from our mower, and let the cuttings mulch back into the lawn. Better for the environment, helps the grass survive our ongoing drought(s), and no lawn clippings to accumulate and dispose of.

Buy a 20L bucket from the big B for about $10, cut the bottom off, stand it in the bag, and you'll find life a lot easier.

Or you could do what I do and feed them to the chooks...
