    Default Timber stair treads

    Anyone please , what’s the minimum allowable thickness of timber stair treads in the building code. 50mm?

    25mm for solid timber, 32mm for MDF

    Thanks Ray, oh I wonder given you’ve included mdf, I should have mentioned it’s an exterior staircase on steel stringers at about 750mm span and 1000mm treads no risers

    At 1000mm wide with no rises

    F27 = 32mm
    F22 = 34mm
    F17 = 36mm
    F11 = 40mm
    F8 = 42mm
    F5 = 46mm (H3 Treated pine)
